Most peoples first words are 'I really don't like having my photograph
taken'. I can understand that, it’s not something you do everyday but
it can be fun - honestly.
Most pictures will be captured as they happen so no posing required but for the slightly more formal shots and group shots you may find some of the following tips helpful.
GOOD POSTURE
BRIDE AND
BRIDESMAIDS
Don't stand with your shoulders square on to the
camera. By turning just a few degrees
(slightly side on to the camera) and putting your weight on the back foot you
create an elegant and flattering pose.
Don’t hide behind your flowers. Hold them about waist level with elbows held slightly away from your
body. This creates a gap between waist
and arm, accentuating that flattering
indent.
GROOM, BEST MAN AND
USHERS
Avoid clasping your hands in front of you. I'm not a footballer about to take a free
kick..
For
informal pictures you can push back your jacket and tuck the fingers of one or
both hands into your pockets. This
creates a strong but casual pose.
HANDS
This is perhaps one of the things that people feel most self
conscious about. (What should I do with
my hands)? The answer is you don’t have to DO
anything.
In formal photographs your arms, hands and fingers should be
relaxed down by your side. Don’t
straighten the arms completely as this creates that stiff uncomfortable look we
want to avoid.
IN GENERAL
If I point the camera towards you don’t freeze, it’s not a
gun. To capture the most relaxed
pictures just be natural with each other, chat, make each other laugh and move. If I need you to pose I will ask you.
Photographs are a part of the
proceedings that will last long after
the day itself, so be
confident that you look your best and ENJOY every second.
